Following on from our previous update on 28/08/2020, we are now able to provide further details on our plan to resuming letting properties through a phased approach. Sheffield City Council reopened the Sheffield Property Shop website for bidding on the 3rd September for some of our Housing Association partners to begin advertising their properties. The Council explained that advertising of our own properties would follow shortly after. We can now announce that the Council will advertise the first of our properties from 17th September 2020.
In order to support the return of allocating and letting our properties, a number of other services will also resume at the same time. These include mutual exchanges and inspections when existing tenants either give notice on their tenancy or move to another Council property. Whilst these services will be resuming, they may operate differently and/or take us longer than normal. We have therefore created a 'What to Expect' page here which provides some guidance on what to expect when bidding for Council accommodation. This page will be kept updated with new information so please ensure that you check this regularly if you are looking to move home.
If you have a priority to move urgently, your priority awarding officer will be in contact with you shortly to explain how the resumption of our services will impact you.
Thank you for your co-operation.
We have suspended advertising properties on our website. We have also withdrawn bids on properties already advertised and will contact customers affected by this.
We will only be providing accommodation to those with the most critical needs.
If you have a priority and wish to discuss this further, please call us on 0114 293 0000.
If you don’t feel safe where you currently live, contact South Yorkshire Police, VAS or IDAS for help and support.
If you have nowhere to live and cannot self-isolate, contact Housing Solutions on 0114 273 6306 or 0800 7311 689 (after 5pm).
In addition, if you are completing a new application to join the Housing Register, you will not need to supply your ID immediately. We will contact you at the appropriate time to request that you provide this.
During this time we would also ask that you do not submit applications for a Mutual Exchange as it is unlikely that such applications would be able to proceed currently. We would recommend that any exchanges you would like to complete be submitted once the measures currently in place have been lifted. Any exchanges which have already been submitted will be processed as normal however, you will not be able to sign the deed of assignment until the measures have been lifted.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will continue to provide updates should this position change. Thank you for your co-operation.
